Montecristo No. 4 is one of Cuba's best-selling cigars and a popular starting point for many cigar enthusiasts. Its smoking experience is remarkably balanced: the first third is rich yet smooth and pleasant, the middle section becomes gentler, offering a brief respite, before the finish delivers a powerful kick again. Brand Introduction

While Montecristo isn't the oldest Havana cigar brand, it is undoubtedly the most famous and popular Havana cigar brand globally. Many Havana cigar enthusiasts use it as a benchmark to judge other brands.

The brand is said to have been named after the cigar rollers at the H. Upmann cigar factory, who were great fans of Alexandre Dumas' famous novel, *The Count of Monte Cristo*. The Montecristo brand originated at this cigar factory around 1935.

Today, the Montecristo cigar range encompasses everything a cigar aficionado could dream of, from the imposing Montecristo A to the petite and elegant Joitta. The initial series was limited to Nos. 1 through 5. All possess the characteristic flavor of Montecristo cigars.

Montecristo's perfectly balanced blend of tobacco is made from select leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region, one of the world's finest tobacco-producing areas.

Today, all Montecristo cigars are—as before—"totalmente a mano, tripa larga"—completely handmade long filler cigars.
